The Little Guys within us

Being a Gemini, I can relate to people who say that they feel like they have two completely different people residing within them. There are many ways to refer to those little guys in your mind-angel/devil, wise/crazy, wild/calm, etc.. Almost all the decisions
we make are based on our interpretation of what they tell us inside our head. We can listen to the good guy or the bad guy, but who is what at that moment?? Our crazy side may tell us to live life to the fullest, party hard and celebrate each day. While our wise side tells us to wait for the right time because there will be a right time for everything in life. This is an example of one of the biggest problems we face. What to do? Amidst the confusion that goes on inside us, we tend to overlook the kind of impression we give to the world. It is then that we appear confused, undecided and unconfident. And before you realise it, you drown under that false impression. Today’s world is ruthless to anyone who does not know for sure what he wants from life. It’s all about grabbing opportunities before everyone else. Anyone who stops for a detour-even to catch your breath-ends up last. To keep going in this competition of life, we need to be able to decide about the smallest of things with a clear mind, or at least keep up the impression of deciding with a quick and sure mind. This is where it turns to war. Making a decision-no matter how small it is, always sends a shiver up our spines when we stop to think about all the possible ramifications of our decision. And sticking to the outcomes of your decision no matter where it takes you in life requires courage that very few of us actually have. Listening to both voices in your mind, stating the pros and cons of your every decision makes it all the more difficult to decide. But this is where we need to learn. For the voices in our head don’t actually fight, they just show us the different outcomes of our decision. They don’t oppose each other, rather they complement each other because together they compose the solution of a situation. The example that I stated above can be thought of as this way- “Life is short and needs to celebrated, but at the same time one shouldn’t forget his reason for existence on this earth (and with it, his responsibilities and duties). To unwind and have fun is important but to work, earn and do something remarkable in life is equally important.” So the next time it feels like you can’t decide on a matter, listen to both the little guys in your head and create a decision that satisfies both their points. It’s tough, obviously….but life wouldn’t be fun if all the decisions would be easy, would it? 🙂
